I will be away for the remainder of the weekend so will not be able to update this thread with mirror addresses. Will all mirror sites please post links to their files on this thread so players can get down to it as soon as possible!

We here at the 1stA added the 0.98 links to the list...they were not part of the original release.... Here's more about the mod....

Gameplay Changes-----------
Vehicles: all vehicles now have correct weight, tanks now have correct relative historical turret traverse times (2/3 of real-life values), CrusaderIII has twin Lewis AA MGs Zoom: Heavy tanks increased from 10% to 15%; tank destroyers and anti-tank guns increased from 10% to 30% (e.g. Jagdpanther, SU-85, SU-100, etc.); 10% zoom given to assault guns (SU-122, StuGIII) Small-arms: British AT now has Auto5 shotgun (Engineer reverts to No4) Artillery spotting: added to Lynx, Dingo, StaghoundIII and Puma General: reduced damage from aircraft to vehicles (to cut down on 'kamikaze' tactics), improved handling on vehicles and aircraft, bombloads on aircraft, moved paraspawn on OMG (to stop roof landing).

Enhancements & Bug fixes------------------------

King Tiger has real engine sounds, exhaust smoke effect, and increased duration on smoke grenades
Reduced in-aircraft sound volumes
SturmgeschutzIII has added Schuerzen (skirt) armour plates Improved AI on IS-2 Corrected armour values on mantlets (Achilles, M10, M36, Firefly and Jumbo); shadows on Sexton, Lynx and Puma; improved 0.95 tank gunsight; AI support for PIAT; turret unwrap on T34-76; Puma MG moved from hull to coax; Lynx/Dingo increased mouselook for driving in reverse; Pak40 sounds fixed; overheating balanced on Lewis MGs; StaghoundAA reloading fixed; projectile splash reduced on Bison, KV-2 and sIG33; zoom removed from Priest; Jagdpanther returned to 1 position vehicle; improved KV-2 cockpit view; various vehicle icons and mini-map icons and map thumbnails fixed.

The Battlegroup42 mod is designed for all game modes: Multiplayer: Conquest, Capture the Flag (CTF) and Team Deathmatch (TDM) SinglePlayer: Coop, Campaign, and Instant Battle. It will be activated automatically when connecting to an online BG42 server. To run in singleplayer or start a server, go into Custom Game, select BattleGroup42 and click Activate. To run directly make a shortcut (or copy the one for standard BF1942) and set the 'Target' as follows (changing as appropriate for your install folder): "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe" +game Battlegroup42 and use ChangeIcon to point it at the BG42icon in the Battlegroup42 folder.

This mod aims to improve on the original BF1942 by putting in missing vehicles, aircraft and hand weapons, and making the maps more historically accurate, without sacrificing gameplay. It is not primarily a realism mod - it does not favour one-shot kills or take away the engineer's wrench.

To those new to Battlegroup42, here are some tips: 1) APCs are crucial to teamwork - they repair tanks and other vehicles as well as giving health and ammo. The APC driver has a mouselook ability, and can even look round to see his teammates in the back (good clan screenshots welcomed!). There are extra APCs added to most of the original maps, and they stay around for longer (so you can use them as mobile supply points).
2) Light tanks like the Panzer II, M3Stuart and StuartI can spot for artillery (right-click in position 2).
3) The King Tiger can fire smoke grenades to conceal itself (right-click in position 2).
4) The FlaK36 ('88') is dual fire - left-click against aircraft and right-click against tanks.
5) Some mobile artillery is fully operated by one player (e.g. British Bishop and German Bison) and can be turned to a new direction even while in the artillery view.
6) There is a lot of fixed artillery so make use of it. Howitzers and field guns like the US M2A1 Howitzer, German sIG33 and Russian ZIS-3 have right-click artillery view; anti-tank guns like the ZIS-2AT do not.

Known Bugs and Issues:
4106-Operation_Barbarossa does not have bot support in this version but will in a later version The PIAT reload animation has no projectile There are some graphical issues with the trackset on the KV tanks

Call to Arms releases!!!...Silent Heroes Homepage change...Flashpoint Balkans homepage updated...XWWII has new pics...BG42 non-release...Forgotten Hope 0.61 bugs forum...BF Single Player maps...Battlefield map contest winners announced...FAR CRY multiplayer demo...
Call to Arms has released their mod 0.3 alpha and a hotfix that you must also have. If you haven't downloaded 0.3 yet you should download 0.31 - this from Torch...Obviously we were a bit too tired last night, since the release had some issues. A missing texture here, a gun that shot the roof there, and you have a bad day. Consequently, we have released this hotfix, entitled 0.31, to resolve these problems. It also corrects some playability issues in several maps. Version 0.31 has also been posted in its entirety , so if you have not yet downloaded Call To Arms, download the 0.31, NOT 0.3. The link for 0.31 is here...from Fileplanet.

Silent Heroes reports that it's homepage is currently being renovated. The main change is the latest forum change can be seen on the homepage at first glance...now only if the forum was in english. Check it out here if you wish.

Flashpoint Balkans has reported that the forums are back up but now for the bad news...you'll have to re-register. If you wish do so go here.

XWWII has posted some new objects that will be in 2.5. You can find those awesome pics here...Alpha Crow in the meantime reports a new server for XWWII has emerged....Hi all, come try out our new server we upgraded recently. We at FO clan feel privledged to provide our server to the best mod I've ever seen and the most mature community on the net. Its an awesome experience to log onto the game and be greeted by name by those players I already recognize and like. I know there's a whole topic on thanking the community, but hey, thanks again! Please stop by and try our server out!
The Forgotten #1 (XWW2)
65.75.160.90
TS2 at same IP, open to all.
Our rules: No main base camping with vehicles unless you have all flags (snipers/infantry on foot are allowed), No parachutes , No profanity or offensive slurs, please. This includes in your name. No grenade spamming (if you don't know, this is where you stand next to an ammo crate and throw grenades repeatedly) , No exploits of the game or maps are allowed.
The base camping rule, we feel, helps the players to stay focused on the battle as a whole and teamwork. Players going for high score by using tanks or such to spawn camp are discouraged from our server. If your team has fought hard and captured all the flags, then you are free to roll over to their main base to finish them off. Should they break/sneak out and cap a flag, we ask that you safely withdraw and retake that lost flag. The parachutes rule was originally for low altitudes only, but since this is impossible to judge in the game fairly, we made it a solid 100% rule so there are no mistakes. No chutes, please. TY. No profanity or slurs: self explanatory. Nade Spamming: This just ruins the game play.
Nothing more re:FH's sound debacle. It may be an end of story situation.

BG42 in it's wisdom has held back the release of 0.98...Dear Ladies & Gentlemen of the BF1942 Community, BattleGroup42 0.98 has been delayed due to problems discovered during the final build and pre-release testing process. We still aim to release this weekend and will make a final decision by 12pm GMT Saturday. The problem we are experiencing surfaced last night and effects only a small amount of code but is enough to hold up the release. While we are cannot apologise enough for the late notice regarding the release we hope the community understands this bug is something we could not overlook and have to fix. Vimeous BattleGroup42 Co-founder & Administrator. A general note...I must say I do respect the modders and developers of this mod...holding off a release and not patching immediately after ( though sometimes it cannot be helped ) this mod is going to be something special. No more news on what's happening with the FH situation...I'm sure things will work out for both because of how BG42 is handling the situation. If you want to read about it check out the forum here...

If you're having trouble with Forgotten Hope 0.61 let them know here so they can tackle the one that you have specifically if they haven't got it listed already.

Battlefield Single player reports several new single player maps for BF1942/DC... this one is made by SHADOW NIGHT ... Radar Post Take Out V2 is a map that plays in the Pacific. It's a jungle combat map with tanks and infantry. Japanese scientist are testing with a new prototype of a radar. Allied forces landed on the beach to stop the Japanese army. You can download that map here and find out about one more for DC at their site here...

The Battlefield mappack winners have been announced!!! Currently PlanetBattlefield is hosting the maps along with the download links...and pics!!! HERE it is...

Apparently Far Cry is not only single-player...a possible oversight by yours truly. Worthplaying has done the review and here is the link so you can look at it....it does look interesting.

Silent Heroes, well...Silent...XWWII Server returns...Lost Battalion renders!!!...BG42 releases this Friday/FH update...Battlefield Vietnam Linux Server released...
Not sure what's happening for the Silent Heroes mod from Sweden but checked out some of their forums and noticed fresh action in their VIP - Sneak Previews section...no access just noticed that the posts were recent and have been so the last few days..possibly expect to see something soon... ( is that general enough - sheeesh ),

If you've been looking for the 'Forgotten Ones' server it's back. This from Thrillhaus...That's right. The Forgotten Ones server is back after a 2 or so week delay. The IP, however, has changed. It is now: 65.75.160.90:14567 TeamSpeak is running on the same IP, default port. Only rule we have at the moment is Do NOT camp main bases without having all capturable flags. However, we ask you to be considerate and do not parachute from low elevations (until 2.5 ) 32 man. Fill 'er up! EDIT - The maps are running in chronological order.

Amazing is the only way to describe these babies...check out these renders from Lost battalion courtesy of mrsparkle. They were posted on their homepage here...this from Wierus...This medium bomber sported an armament of 4 .303 inch machine guns, 2 in the nose and 2 in the dorsal turret. Along with its moderate amount of bombload, the Beaufort could aslo take on the role of torpedo bomber. Check these out!

BG42 has released some new photos of some of the para changes... including helmets and skins...first the German/then the Brits...look for the release this Friday ( rumored to approx 50mb larger than 0.95....don't remember how big 0.95 was...sorry). As far as the issue with FH using sounds from BG42 not much more light has been shed. There was nothing more that I saw on XWWII's site either, which in a way I'm glad for. Don't get me wrong...I think it's imperative that this be decided but I'm not for nitpicking either. It does seem though that BG42 will find out what happened due to the Dev's thinking about the situation with respect...not jumping on what's just 'surmised' but wanting to find out the truth. Hat's off to the devs at BG42.

This one caught me by surprise...apparently the Linux Server for BFV has been released...you can download it here...here and here.

Off Topic...Far Cry
I've been playing the Far Cry demo from Ubi Soft recently and found it to be very well done so I thought I'd share some screens...all in all I'd have to say I enjoyed the AI and the scenery...the best part is that you really feel like your shots have an impact. That is very well done. Some problems...collision detection when firing at someone just behind a leaf...it seems as though the leaf has incredible properties that can stop all bullets. Other times they shred appropriately...anyway...here's the link to their homepage and the screens I promised...but first more about the game from Ubi...

Call to Arms update...XWWII updates/FH sounds here too!!??...BG42 0.98 releasing!!!...
Call to Arms has some major updates to announce...one of which is the JU88 is no ingame! FSSF Smitty- After several hours of tweaking and testing, the Junkers 88a is in game. It all boiled down to being coding irregularities in the sound scripts for the engines. I'm going to go after the sound issues with the Coastal gun now. PS all the flags for all the ships have been changed to the Canadian and German flags, since none of the maps in development so far use Japanese ships. I've added a few more tank wrecks and plane wrecks, and redone the Shipwrecks somewhat. The Norwegian raid map still needs a proper name. I'll leave it the way it is for the time being, unitl we can come up with something better. I am having issues with the stationary machine guns. Apparently I can't use them in any map, which leads me to believe that something we added is interfering with them. They are also reporting that they are in fact releasing the mod March11! More news as it becomes available...

XWWII has released some new renders... you can find them here at their homepage. This next piece of news is not good for FH though what are the ramifications? It appears that not only did they use sounds from BG42 but now also XWWII. The sound byte in question was used when loading a map FH was originally ending a map in XWWII. You can find that thread here. Now for FH's part they say it's the fault of Merciless Creations...not sure on how that all works out. We'll keep watching this...

BattleGroup 42 is being released this Friday! Here's the lowdown...BG42 0.98 is all about completely integrating the changes introduced in the 1.6 patch for Battlefield 1942. As such it concentrates on skins, code and equipment that make that integration possible. This will bring BG42 right up-to-date and makes great use of DICE's latest work. Is that all? Well no as we've decided to slot in a few other minor tweaks. The Bren LMG has been added for the Commonwealth infantry and to vehicles mounts on the Lynx and Sexton. In addition hugely improved skins can be found on the Matilda and Crusader III with the latter also benefitting from a twin Lewis Gun AA mount for the first time. Normally we have some pics but their homepage has some before and after's that really show a difference...visit them here to see the excellent pics for 0.98.

Call to Arms pic update...Sound issue's in FH, BG42...BG42 towable detachable gun...Forgotten Hope .61 patch...FH-no bot support...Communist Agression release soon?...
Call To Arms, in one of it's many projects, is working on the C15ta Medical Vehicle. They are currently trying to make one of the positions lying down in the stretcher ....

There's more about the sound dilemma but it seems to be getting more under control. At issue seems to be the usage of sound files from one mod to another without proper recognition although this is currently being dealt with by the Devs. They seem to be most responsible and I'm glad in one situation that Panzaman re-opened the discussion thread here. It looks as though the Devs will be taking care of it...at least we'll be able to see the result. The second page of the thread is here....

While in FH you have guns that you can tow around the model acts as one vehicle BG42 is working on a towable gun that you can detach from the vehicel! Current coding without an SDK is somewhat restrictive but it looks as though they are looking for a way to do it. What release it will be a part of has yet to be determined but from all indications 1.0 may be the release...a release with a number of other 'surprises'.

There's already a .61 patch for the .60 release of Forgotten Hope. You can download 0.6 here, the mappack here... and the patch here. These are all Fileplanet links.

Battlefield Single Player has some excellent news releases in the last couple days...map downloads and map info. Here's an excerpt from their latest news update for the single players in all of us...The Forgotten Hope mod has released their latest version, and it has NO BOT SUPPORT! Yes folks, I downloaded the huge(1.2GIG) file and it appears that there is NO BOT SUPPORT. Shortly after the initial .6 release the FH team released a patch(here we go again, another user friendly release :/ ) that was supposed to fix things, but guess what, it did not! Make sure you check out their site and get all info from the past few days here...

Communist Aggression reports that it's time 'is almost at hand'...at least according to one of it's members. Not sure what that means as there is already very little in their forums re:updates. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Mod wars for real/0.98 BG42 release imminent...FH's 0.6 release links...DCX Mappack2 released!!!...
We all know that protecting each others work is vital...either that or give copyright credit. Well it appears that BG42 and Forgotten Hope have gotten into a bit of a mess after the release of Forgotten Hope's 0.6. It appears at first glance and seems to prove rather conclusively that the aircraft sounds in FH release are the same as the last major release of BG42. Comparisons between file sizes and sound curves have already begun in the BG42 forum here. There has been a call put out for calm and I'm sure it will get resolved but there are a few that are definitely put out...understandably so if this is in fact the case. Of course it gets more complicated because 0.98 is about to be released by BG42 ( photos below ) and the implications are that BG42 will be charged with stealing the sounds from the much more popular FH. More from Panzaman about the release...We're busy working away at the next release of BG42 - it should be within the next week or two, and we'll give a definite release date within the next couple of days. As promised, it is mostly aimed at incorporating the new content and changes in 1.6, though we've also taken the opportunity to include new content - like the Bren gun - plus new skins, effects, etc. It includes the LiberationOfCaen map, but, of course, with additional BG vehicles - including the ShermanFirefly and Puma armoured car. The centrepiece will be the Panther since this map represents, for us, one of the significant encounters the Canadians had with Panthers outside Caen (they came off pretty well, in fact, largely through brave use of the PIAT in close country). We have incorporated the new DICE vehicles with a number of significant enhancements in our twin aims of achieving historical accuracy and teamplay: Lynx scout car has a Bren gun for the passenger plus artillery spotting for the driver, Sexton mobile artillery has a Bren AA MG as a second position, Pak40 has correct characteristics and new desert and snow skins...Kettenkrad has handling improvements and the MG has been removed. It has new desert and snow skins. You can find out more and see some pics by going to the forum here...Just a note regarding the FH's homepage... I wasn't able to access it or their forums at this time to here their side re: plane sounds....I'm sure we'll hear about the resolution soon...

If you're wondering where the FH's release links are they currently here...a few days ago we also reported that another website may hold a few links but that is not the case...if they do change their mind ( their website states they are waiting for 0.6...well... ) you can find their site here...

DCX has released a new mappack which you will really want to get! . Here's the note from xXx...The DCX Team has been working hard just for you! These maps will blow you away. Here's what you will be getting: DCX Pacific Threat, DCX Kandahar and DCX Orion Dawn. You can find the download page here...

Flashpoint Balkans reports forum trouble...XWWII remove parachutes poll/map pics by Genki...Call To Arms does interview!...Full version DCX download page...The Longest Day map fix...
The report from the FB site is their Forums admin has quit...here's the report...Well as many of our forum go-ers know, our forums are down at the moment. Our host for our forums has quit on us and we are going to be getting new forums up soon. Sorry for the trouble, but most likely you are going to have to re-register on the forums. More will come later.

Just to keep you apprised of the poll over at XWWII regarding the removal of the parachutes...54% are all for it,  31% just on maps without planes and 14% requesting that they leave it in. If you like infantry maps and intensity then these map pics will make you salivate...( hopefully not ) ....anyway, some excellent pics of a map based loosely on Stalingrad...

Recently Call to Arms did an interview with BFworld.net and released a few more pics. If you're interested in ready the article follow the link here!!!

Eagle1 has created a webpage with Flash with the latest version of DCX and the latest patch...the page takes a little while to load but it's to the point. Thanks Eagle1! You can find the page here...

A note from the creator of the Longest Day map series...We've had several people email who have had problems with a large reduction in fps around the new defgun bunkers. With considerable help from the BG42 modding group (much thanks to them for their assistance) the bunker has been redone and the system hit will no longer be noticeable. After we correct some other small issues, we will release a patch that will update the version. You will NOT need to download the whole file again, just one small file. I expect this will be finished in a week or two.

Upload Issues...Call to Arms pics...XWWII, removal of parachutes/Screenshot contest...Single player maps...
Updates have been at a standstill because my provider's DNS server, for whatever reason, could not find my domain ( or any others connected ). Everyone else could hit it outside of my provider but not....I'll stop complaining and get on with it...

Call to Arms has more screenshots of Operation Totalize by Guinea Pig...this is looking like a really great map!...

XWWII is going for more realism than any other mod but will that hurt them more than help? It's the old gameplay vs. realism debate. Anyway, this is what XWWII is currently dealing with for the 2.5 release...I have posted a new poll, we are talking about the idea of removing parachutes all together for the upcoming 2.5 release. The reasons being they are unrealistic. Because no pilot bailed at the altitude the planes fly at in BF. Also not every soldier packed his own chute everywhere he went. I want to get everyone feelings on this because it is a big change to the mod. It would change gameplay as well. Please Vote in the poll on the right. You can find the poll here...at their homepage. The Screenshot contest continues over at XWWII...below you'll find my current favorite by Osirus...

Forgotten Hope has some pic updates just to make you drool...we've got some of them here to show you or head to their homepage to check out a few more...

Make sure you check out BF42 Single Players... there's a link here to a big EOD mappack and more at the BF1942 Single players site...check them out!

Forgotten Hope releases new information regarding it's release...
There's a news release on Forgotten Hopes' website...here's a sampling...Despite our internal forum troubles slowing us down a bit we'd like to give out the release date for v0.6 of the Forgotten Hope Beta. The date is this Saturday March 6th! A few things about the release, there will be two files you need to download, as with last time. This is not going to be a patch for any previous release, as so much has been implemented it will be a complete install. ...The second item of news for today should be good news to all of you dial up users out there, as Forgotten Hope is a large file it is being features on a DVD/CDROM install! Here's a look at the cover art for that release. Check out their homepage for more news regarding the release!

Flashpoint Balkans-Tactical War Merger?...Forgotten Hope release/size...EOD update...DCX working on .72a...
Though not much more to go on than Forum news it seems as though members are talking about a merger that happened between FB and the Tactical War mod... I currently have no more than that but will continue to monitor the situation for you...*update* - since I finished this update I went back and checked and in fact Total War has merged with Flashpoint Balkans - check out the thread here...

Expect the FH release soon...it seems as though they had trouble with the forums and wanted to post a few pics before the release ( feed the frenzy I guess ). Always check their website here for the release if your interested in it...btw...the talk about the release being 1GB or larger has not subsided...Another quick note...FH has got some followers that are creating a new homepage for Forgotten Hope. I'm pretty sure it's a fansite but it does say they are waiting for 0.6, if you're having trouble downloading I'm sure they will also have some excellent download links, find them here.
