BF2
Go to your My Documents locations and find the Battlefield 2 directory. Go into mods>BF2>Cache directory and delete any directory that begins with the {D7  ( it maybe any directory with just the { beginning - back up anything you are unsure of deleting.) folder name. The next time you go into a map it will do a graphics optimization but it does seem to load faster each time after that.

 - ( from Maximum PC ) - Find the following settings in ut2004.ini - Use more system memory... Find "CacheSizeMegs=32" and change it to the amount of system memory you want to use, leave some for your OS. Increase the NET Speed - "ConfiguredInternetSpeed=10,000" means a download speed of 10kb - but for LAN Play or T1 set it to 20,000... modem users use 5,000. Play Your Music - F11 in-game and select files.

To get XP to erase this every time you shutdown do the following: go to hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager\memory managment and add a DWORD value named ClearPageFileAtShutdown. Set it to a value of 1 ... reboot your PC and your pagefile will be erased everytime...shutdown may take a little longer....
- Disable Messenger - To Disable Messenger MSN from running go to the start - RUN - type Regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft - create a new key by selecting Edit from the main menu bar. Now select New then Key. Name this new Key: Messenger  - Now select the newly created Messenger Key and create another new Key. Only this time we are going to name it: Client .Next we have to create a DWORD value ( in the newly created Client key) .... so Right Click the new Client Key and select New then DWORD. Name the DWORD PreventRun - Now we need to give it a Data Value of 1 - Restart XP. ( from www.updatexp.com )
BREAK OUT OF A CONTINUOUS REBOOT LOOP   - Have you ever had to troubleshoot a Windows XP system that appeared to be stuck in a continuous reboot loop? In this scenario, you can start the system as you normally would and even log on. But within seconds of logging on, the system mysteriously reboots itself. In some cases, you don't even have to log on before the system reboots.  If this sounds familiar, you're encountering a feature of Windows XP's Startup and Recovery system. By default, this system specifically configures Windows XP to automatically restart itself after encountering a system
failure error.  These system failure errors are usually isolated and occur randomly. As such, the best way for the operating system to deal with them is to
automatically restart.  In most cases, doing so solves the problem. But if the system failure error is more serious and occurs on a regular basis, you'll encounter a continuous reboot loop.  However, you can disable the automatic restart behavior. Follow these
steps:
1. Press [Windows][Break] to open the System Properties dialog box.
2. On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the Startup And
Recovery section.
3. In the System Failure section, deselect the Automatically Restart
check box, and click OK.
4. To enable the changes, click OK in the System Properties dialog box.

This change configures the system to halt after encountering a system failure error, which allows you to investigate the problem error in more detail. You'll then have to manually restart the system.  Keep in mind that you'll have to work fast in order to make the change before the system reboots. You may have better luck making the change if you launch the system in Safe Mode. ( from Techrepublic )
EXTEND THE COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW - Have you ever issued a command at a command prompt window that sent a long listing of output faster than you could read it? One example is the Driverquery command, which commonly produces over a hundred lines of output. Windows XP's default command prompt window buffers 300 lines of text that you can scroll through. However, the lines after that disappear off the screen and are gone forever. This can be extremely frustrating, especially if you need to issue the command several times and monitor the results.Fortunately, you can increase the size of the buffer to view more than 300 lines of text in a command prompt window. Here's how: 1. Launch a command prompt window. 2. Right-click the control icon in the upper left corner of the window, choose Properties, and select the Layout tab. 3. In the Screen Buffer Size panel, type a larger number in the Height text box and click OK. 4. When the Apply Properties To Shortcut dialog box appears, choose the appropriate option and click OK.
